Since some years now I collect ( among others) pictures out of newpapers of people
from all over the world – mostly women- erring in a urban environment
with a portrait-photograph in their hand.
In the global media imagery these images are connected with a very intimate yet explicit
political reality. I translated the documentary given into a sculpture of a male figure
in a speaker’s corner-like situation which displaces the signification into a timeless , almost absurd realm.
Isolating this “ searching for a relative” from its immediate interpretation the idea
of Diogenes , searching for a men comes to mind.
The sculpture was made in 2001, concrete and wood.
